Bye-bye Summer

Posted on

I’m actually not ready to say that at all yet. Most of the early summer was very rainy and didn’t feel like summer and now it’s a week until September already which means fall is fast approaching. I do like the colors of fall, but I’m still not ready for short nights and cold weather. The best part of this fall is that it’s the last fall I’ll go back to school. After this year, I’ll have my Associate’s and will probably stop there. I’ll be the first person in my family to have any kind of degree and I have a job that doesn’t require a Bachelor’s. Insurance is its own little world of training and schooling that can be done in pieces as I need to enhance my knowledge. But I want some more summer. Maybe I’ll have a July in December party instead of Christmas in July like some people do. That sounds fun. I’ll keep you guys posted. I definitely need more summer in my life.

Did I really see that?

I have to start this blog off by saying I wasn’t intending to write anything today. What I saw last night was just too good and I have to share. Enjoy :)

I was at the mall with my daughter, Morgan. Not my choice, mind you. The new wife of the ex is refusing to drive my daughter to me so I have to drive to pick her up. At least, I’m assuming it’s the new wife.

(Grr, don’t get me started on these two “adults.” We live 40 minutes apart and he is responsible for getting Morgan to me and I’m responsible for getting her home. That has NEVER happened. One of the many reasons I’m saving to take him back to court.)

Since I had to work late, I met them at the mall where she meets her ex husband so he can take their two girls for the evening and I got my girl. The ex (Morgan’s dad) works at the mall, so Morgan and I were just walking around and trying keep from getting bored. We were sitting in the food court when up the stairs came a group of girls all in summer dresses. Very cute dresses, too but that’s beside the point. As they walked toward us, I noticed one of the girls was wearing a bright, shiny sash. Now, I’m thinking County Fair Princess or something like that since the County Fair is going on maybe 15 minutes from the mall. As she got closer, though, I could finally read it.

BACHELORETTE PARTY

These girls looked about 16! Every single one of them!

My first thought was Is she really old enough to get married? Quickly followed by She’s gonna regret that in a few years.

But it did shed some light on my past. You see, my stupid ass got married at 19. I got carded until I was in my late 20′s. Heck, every once in a great while, I’ll get carded at the grocery still. Don’t ruin it for me. I know they have to. But looking at these babies, I realized why everyone had such a hard time believing me when I was younger about how old I was. Sigh. If I looked as young as those girls did it’s no wonder people constantly asked me for ID.

I wonder what I’ll see the next time I’m in the mall lol.

It’s been awhile

And to my 3 (lol) readers, I’ll try very hard to stay on here more regularly. It’s been a struggle working two jobs to find any time to write. I also was going through a rough patch for a couple of weeks where every time I sat down to write a blog, it was really depressing and there was lots of bitching and that’s not what I wanted this blog to be about, so I just haven’t written.

I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, though and can finally write without it turning into a bitch fest. For those of you who know I got a new job with an insurance agency, I go to class next week to get trained to take the state license test. I’m very excited about the class but not so much about the test. I do well on tests but have heard this one is a doozy. I only need a score or 70 or better to pass. Let’s hope I’m a little smarter than that. I will only be working both jobs for the rest of August.

The nonsense with the ex husband is still going on. I found a lawyer willing to help, but now need to save the money to pay said lawyer. I don’t get paid til after I work, so why should they get paid before they do their work? Never has made any sense to me lol.

I start my “last” year of school in September. Last is in quotations because it’s the last year of my Associates. I’m proud of myself for getting this far. I’ll be the first person in my family to graduate from college, even if it is only a two-year Associate’s. I would like to finish my Bachelor’s, but I’m definitely going to take a little time off from school next year and really look at my options.

I’m also working on rough draft ideas for my first novel and will probably start posting snippets and parts of chapters. I have a great idea for a fantasy series but am still working out some of the kinks in the main characters. Fingers crossed, everyone!

Until next time :)
